For those of us who are lucky enough to still have our moms around, there is one time each year when we are reminded to show thanks (and love) for all those stinky diapers she changed and those anxiety-filled late nights she stayed up. This year, Mother’s Day falls on May 10th. Have you figured out what to get Mom? If so, you are in the minority.
Most of us regrettably wait until the week before to start planning our gift to Mom. It’s not that we don’t care the rest of the year, it’s just that life is so darn busy these days. So Team Fuego Diablo decided to look into ways to help you all out this year and honour our mothers.
So what does Mom want?
First things first, people: she says don’t bother doing anything special, and she does NOT mean it. She doesn’t need you to spend a ton of money or book the most exclusive spa or restaurant for her. But she does want you to show that you gave this special day some thought. Just think of the thought she put into that Spiderman cake for your birthday or the perfect bike for Christmas when you were 6. Sorry for the spoiler, but that wasn’t Santa.
What Mom wants is a nice card (preferably handmade, though that gets less cute when her kids are in their thirties); a fabulous meal made by someone else; and to know that someone who loves her planned this out and made it happen for her.
Now think about it - what does she usually like to have someone else cook for her? Our research shows that one of the top meals mothers want someone to cook for them is a steak dinner. Preferably with some lobster (and it is in season in many eastern Canada locations in early May). Sounds awesome, right? But it’s not complete without the perfect side dishes. And do not even think of making her prepare any of these! Yes, even if she offers to help. Say no, sit her down and bring her a glass of bubbly. (Or her favourite red wine!)
Here are our top 4 suggestions for steak side dishes for Mother’s Day. Why not make two or three to really create a special menu?
By the way, for the main dish, you still have time to order the best steak your mom will ever have at home for Mother’s Day. (It’s easy – just click here: http://www.fuegodiablo.com/collections/steaks-prime)
This is a shout out to all mothers out there, and those who are not with us anymore: We love you, Mom. Thanks for everything.
